The Product Support Engineer will support the innovative Affymetrix™ products, tools, and resources that help advance the work of researchers via microarray analysis. Application areas that benefit from such an approach include plant and animal genomics and transcriptomics, including basic research and industrial application of technologies for breeding, population diversity and conservation, trait analysis, and more. Unique solutions are also available for cancer research from discovery to clinical research and validation, such as cytogenetics research of constitutional and cancer disorders. The genetics of human complex traits, Mendelian disorders, and populations are also application arrays that can be advanced with Affymetrix microarray analysis, such as through population-optimized and application-optimized genotyping to enable human genetic research workflows.


  • Provide third tier level expert technical hardware and software support for Microarray –related Instrumentation
  • Develop or assist in the development and maintenance of service and support procedures for new and existing products
  • Develop training course materials and conduct or assist with internal training activities for Field Service Engineers
  • Create or assist in the preparation of Technical Alert Communications (TACs), Service Manuals and other technical documents
  • Act as a liaison between the global Field Service Engineer teams and Engineering by facilitating communication and maintaining escalation processes
  • Participate in new product introduction teams as a Services & Support Core Team and Extended team member
  • Report design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to R&D Sustaining teams
  • Participate in process and operation improvement opportunities
  • Comply with company quality management systems, policies and procedures
  • Additional duties/responsibilities according to business needs, occasional business travel required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree Engineering
  • 5+ years related experience, preferably in Biotech industry
  • Experience with service or design/manufacturing of instruments such as liquid handlers, optical detection systems or similar
  • Ability to work within a cross-functional team with diverse background and areas of expertise
  • Excellent verbal and technical written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineer, preferably mechanical, electrical or bioengineering
  • Field service or other Support –related experiences a plus
  • Knowledge of basic molecular biology preferred
