Location/Division Specific Information
Thermo Fisher Scientific is looking for an Internal Communications Specialist for our Carlsbad, CA location to support North America sales communications across our Commercial, Sales Operations and marketing teams. Partnering internally with the Regional Market Development teams, Sales & Marketing Operations and Commercial leadership, you will create and manage strategic internal sales communications and program execution across multiple channels. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of North America Marketing Operations, the Sales Communications Specialist should be highly organized, have strong writing skills and prior experience creating content for internal digital, social and in-person channels. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, be able to work in a fast-paced environment and, most importantly, have a passion for delivering creative, straightforward messaging, internally and externally, that are aligned to Thermo Fisher Scientific strategy. It is essential to be a strong, conceptual thinker who possesses a wide range of communication capabilities

How will you make an impact? As the Internal Communications Specialist for sales, your work will have a tremendous impact that will help facilitate change and create excitement around our products and services, like creating and managing internal sales and marketing communications to our sales teams. This position interacts with varying levels of internal and external stakeholders requiring the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.

What will you do?

  • Partner with Regional Marketing Development Managers (RMD), Sales and Marketing Operations and Commercial Leadership to support the development and execution of a comprehensive internal communication strategy to these groups
  • Work closely with the RMD’s as well as Operations and Commercial leadership to develop high-quality communications to be shared across various vehicles that strengthen employee engagement through:
  • Email
  • Social (Yammer)
  • Trainings: calls (weekly sales updates), video and in person trainings
  • Sales meeting communication and support
  • Create coordinated communication programs and tools that can be leveraged across multiple platforms
  • Utilize technology to target communications to specific audiences and continually incorporates latest technologies and best practices to amplify communications
  • Share ideas and expertise and further progressive, innovative thinking about employee communications within Thermo Fisher Scientific
  • Partner with Sales Operations team to ensure inclusive and coordinated communication approach
  • Develop and monitor key metrics to ensure achievement of business goals and objectives
  • Leverage data to make recommendations and decisions regarding communications strategies, plans and investments
  • Continually evaluate tools to aid in communications with our target audience
  • Research, assess and analyze issues, facts, audiences and situations in the course of developing internal communication plans, strategies, tactics and messages
  • Act as a liaison with the corporate communications, and commercial teams
  • Work with internal partners in counseling them on the best ways to communicate information

How will you get here?
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration/science preferred
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a sales communications and/or internal communications position, preferably in a corporate setting
  • Understand the needs of a global Sales team – information, cadence, timeliness
  • Excellent writing, editing, communication skills, and ability to translate those skills into digital and social channels
  • Experience with existing and emerging digital and social media platforms and tools
  • Ability to work with Sales Leadership to enable and empower them as a communication channel
  • Ensure the communications are relevant to our diverse employee population
  • Ability to effectively interact and network with many partners across the company – by functional area and level
