Job Description

The Sr. Manager, eBusiness Customer Pilots is responsible for managing all aspects of eBusiness activities and project management focused on Thermo Fisher Scientific’s most strategic customers. This position is accountable for development and oversight of the eBusiness portfolio with strategic accounts including gathering business requirements, develop prioritization, and the build out of the roadmap for enhanced digital connectivity across all of Thermo Fisher Scientific digital properties. This individual will lead both cross-functional business and IT teams and inform the fact base and prioritization efforts for the eBusiness strategic plan with key accounts. He/she will work collaboratively with colleagues within eBusiness and divisional commercial leadership to support, implement, and track key projects impacting our strategic customers. The individual will provide strategic thought leadership and project management including the recommendation and implementation of strategic customer needs and requirements. The ideal candidate will come from a strong Commercial /Project Management background, with experience working with global teams and communicating effectively across multiple businesses, and/or geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Manage a matrix team of commercial business and IT leaders in the development of persistent requirements for Thermo Fisher Scientific web properties and eBusiness initiative.
  • Prioritize business requirements, develop business cases with funding requests (ARs), review functional specifications, and participate in functional reviews
  • Development and execution of corporate accounts eBusiness roadmap
  • Lead cross division, cross region, workshops, input sessions, and focus groups to develop new web concepts
  • Define and understand the business needs of the user community, recommend solutions when appropriate, and understand project demand within the next 3-6 months.
Strategy Development:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the end-user community including customer satisfaction, cultivating growth, as well as day-to-day communication as necessary.
  • Analyze complex business needs as presented by both internal and external customers and stakeholders and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Inform and influence eBusiness Strategy and Execution for major Thermo Fisher Scientific web properties by working collaboratively with Division and Region leadership and Corporate management
Project Implementation:
  • Excellent analytical, project management and planning skills with the ability to learn quickly
  • Special projects as assigned in connection with the eBusiness goals and strategy to drive aggressive sales goals and optimization of site-wide key performance indicators
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate project activities within a cross-functional and matrix organization, delivering eBusiness capabilities for Thermo Fisher web properties
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participates in defining technology roadmap for Commercial application initiatives and assumes responsibility for resolving any issues obstructing the execution of this roadmap.
  • Ability to think strategically, defining and executing projects with often high levels of ambiguity including excellent critical thinking, project management, analytical, organizational and presentation skills
  • Experience working on initiatives that require both global and region specific deliverables
  • Executive presence with leadership engagement
  • Ensures the global processes, tools, and people are aligned to the global strategy.
  • Develops and maintains a program for monitoring and reporting on compliance to adopted policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Develops organizational program / project management capabilities through training, coaching, and group and individual meetings/discussions.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, or Marketing from an accredited higher learning institution required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • 5+ years of business analysis, product management, or e-commerce development experience
  • 8+ years experience in commercial relationship management, project management – cross-functional, global project teams, delivery of regionalization requirements
  • 8+ years experience in complex stakeholder environments – cross division, region engagement
  • Proven ability to gain consensus, influence organizational behavior and enable timely decision making in a complex international and matrix environment
  • Track record of defining and executing projects with often high levels of ambiguity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at various levels of management, as well as both business and technical departments.
  • Demonstrate an ability to harmonize and rationalize disparate business processes into common solutions across various business entities
  • Conversant in the areas of salesforce effectiveness, incentive compensation management systems and reporting/analytics solutions
  • Strong analytical skills, able to interpret legacy requirements and effectively model in more modern technologies.
  • Proven technical, leadership and management skills with the ability to manage simultaneous priorities and changing deadlines

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at various levels of management, as well as both business and technical departments.
  • Demonstrate an ability to harmonize and rationalize disparate business processes into common solutions across various business entities
  • Conversant in the areas of salesforce effectiveness, and reporting/analytics solutions
  • Solid understanding of diverse IT environments and systems - mainframe, Unix, Windows, database, networks, etc.
  • Must have strong proven customer service acumen
