Job Description

The Manager, Procurement Operations will have oversight of the newly created Indirect Categories Procurement Operations function for Thermo Fisher Scientific and will oversee the process to assist employees submitting requisitions in non-catalog procurement as well as the supplier enablement process. Main responsibilities will include:

  • Train and develop the specialists within own sphere of influence
  • Ensure close collaboration with appropriate teams, individuals and colleagues
  • Coordinate activities in line with Procurement Operations goals and processes
  • Ensure that individuals performing the process have resources, tools, and training to successfully service users
  • Document processes and continuously improve the level of service provided by the non-catalog procurement and supplier enablement functions
  • Establish goals, adhere to department budgets, and ensure that Procurement Operations is meeting or exceeding the expectations of employees submitting requisitions
  • Manage SLAs developed with internal shared services resources and external supplier resources as required
  • Deliver year over year savings for spend flowing through the non-catalog procurement process
  • Work on complex situations / requirements coming to Procurement Operations augmenting the bandwidth and expertise of the Procurement Operations specialists
  • Participate in systems implementation and on-going management activities as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business / Economics / or Supply Chain and 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience using e-procurement e-sourcing tools
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage and lead a supplier enablement specialist as well as shared services and external service provider resources
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and continuously improve the department
  • Excellent customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strategic Sourcing experience
