Responsibilities:

  • Strong business partnering with Lenexa Site Director and other Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and Sourcing leadership; define practices and strategies to add value and maintain cost effectiveness.
  • Develop robust process and scorecards to provide visibility to savings, restructuring costs, investments and overall financial performance on execution of all Operations initiatives.
  • Management of operations finance teams for both the Lenexa and Ottawa sites; build team capabilities and individual team member development
  • Prepare and present monthly MBD financial and operational reporting & bridge commentary
  • Operations accounting, cost center review & inventory control
  • Develop strong processes to enable regular standard cost updates and to ensure product costing is reliable and accurate.
  • Prepare material cost and overhead cost analysis
  • Factory waste analysis and inventory excess & obsolete provisioning
  • Drive inventory efficiency program
  • Track site productivity and drive continuous process improvement at the site
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly performance, with particular focus on KPIs and variance analysis against Plan, Prior Quarter & Prior Year
  • Oversee development of annual budgets (AOP) and monthly forecasts for Operations
  • Participate as part of Lenexa Site Leadership Team and Operations Leadership Team
  • Work with the US financial shared services team for statutory reporting, tax and audit compliance
  • Build financial models for capital investment appraisals and support business case proposals
  • Drive continuous process improvement within the finance function
  • Ad hoc analysis and projects as required (both divisional and site specific)

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Accounting or Finance Degree
  • Advanced user of MS Office Suite – Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Clear communication skills, written and verbal, including the ability to effectively communicate with non-finance colleagues
  • Deep knowledge of P&L and working capital drivers within a manufacturing environment
  • Previous management experience
  • Experience of working with key functional stakeholders to divisional VP level
  • Desire for career advancement within Thermo Fisher Scientific

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA/CMA/MBA
  • Significant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of SAP business system
  • Experience of Hyperion Financial Management tools
