The Thermo Fisher Scientific HPLC business has been setting decisive and innovative trends for many years in the development, manufacturing and marketing of instruments and software for High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The expertise of our highly qualified staff contributes significantly to our economic success, enabling us to continuously expand our site in Germering near Munich.

For the support of our Team we are searching for a

Senior Manager, HPLC Product Marketing (f/m)

The Sr. Manager of HPLC Product Marketing will support the Business Unit’s long-term Marketing and Commercial Development strategy and will lead a team of Product Marketing Managers and Commercial Development Managers. The Sr. Manager will facilitate the identification of market trends and growth drivers leading inbound marketing activities e.g. Voice of Customer and Voice of Sales as well as outbound marketing focusing on the development of content for marketing collateral. The Sr. Manager will work collaboratively with colleagues from the Product Management and Applications Development team of the Business Unit leadership and key stakeholders from LSBU and CMD Marketing including Vertical and Regional Markets Teams as well as Marcom to support, help implement, and excecute strategic marketing campaigns that have significant impact on the HPLC Business Unit. The Sr. Manager, reporting to the Sr. Director of HPLC Product Marketing will provide strategic guidance on a broad range of topics, including market analysis, commercial execution tactics e.g. sales promotions, competitive strategies and regional product positioning that support the HPLC strategic vision. It is essential that this person is able to establish rapport, credibility, trust, and respect throughout the organization and be viewed as a team player.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leads the HPLC Product Marketing Team and key marketing processes for the Business Unit.
  • Identifies, researches, analyzes and values potential market opportunities and sales strategies for the Business Unit.
  • Partners with functional experts to drive the marketing strategy and commercial opportunities within HPLC.
  • Performs competitive and market analysis by region/geographic area connecting key strategic projects with implications and possible outcomes for the Business Unit. Presents findings and recommendations as appropriate incorporating Voice of the Customer (VOC) and Voice of Sales (VOS) to the HPLC Leadership Team.
    • Identifies, defines, and articulates industry, market, and emerging trends and how they may affect the business.
    • Evaluates white space opportunities for possible expansion in key growth markets and regions.
  • Defines and tracks key strategic performance metrics using A3 and marketing plans.
  • Uses Tiger Teams and QMI calls to work closely with the commercial teams and regional marketing to ensure marketing campaigns are impactful.
  • Works on special projects as assigned in connection with the Business Unit goals and strategy.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in chemistry or life sciences. MBA or related advanced degree desired.
  • 5 – 10 years of relevant professional experience, including broad-based experience in marketing, product management and commercial management are required.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial operations, product management, business development and/or marketing in a related industry.
  • Strong business acumen and a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional and personal relationships with key business partners and customers positively impacting business growth.
  • Excellent communication, team-building, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent presentation and analytical chemistry skills.
  • Demonstrated success working in a global, matrixed-environment with ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Proven track record of effectively driving large scale initiatives from a business and cultural standpoint.
  • Ability to understand, analyze and assimilate complex issues, draw correct conclusions and formulate clear strategy and policies.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity combined with a ‘results-driven’ mindset.
  • Highly self-motivated with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives.
