Job Description
Manager, Training (Steriles Operations)

This role is located at our Greenville, North Carolina site. Relocation assistance has been approved for the successful candidate.


The Manager, Training is responsible for improving the productivity of the site associates. This position is responsible for the effective development, coordination and presentation of training and development programs within the Steriles Operations (and supporting functions). This role assesses site-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for associates. This role actively searches for, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate and enhance performance. Mgr, Training ensures that there are two collaborative programs operating at all times: new employee on-boarding /training and ongoing training for current employees.

Essential Functions:

Develop a needs assessment process and create an instructional design process with appropriate delivery methods and post training evaluations to ensure certification of associates within roles. Recommend training solutions for areas with performance issues based on information from the current Learning Management System, direct observation on the production floor, and partnership with Staff, Shift Managers, Shift Leads and technical resources. Coordinate efforts to ensure the full utilization of all site training facilities, processes, resources and equipment. Assist with developing a training progression by role approach for each position. Continuously seek and support new approaches, practices and processes to improve the efficiency of training services offered. Amend and revise programs as necessary in order to adapt to changes in the work environment. Work closely with appropriate functional groups to develop training requirements for new projects/processes. Help line managers to solve specific training needs/problems, either one-on-one or in group settings. Develop and implement a process to evaluate training and development programs. Negotiate appropriate training schedules with site leadership. Responsible for ensuring all associates are aware of training dates/times/locations. Prepare training documents, presentations, videos, e-learnings, etc. Serve as a presenter of training materials, including on nights when needed. Represent the training program in all applicable external and internal audits.


Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Business Management, Basic Sciences, Engineering or other related discipline is required.


Five years of relevant experience within a manufacturing environment is required; 3 years of leadership experience is preferred. Knowledge of cGMP is required.


Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

  • Strong leadership skills and high learning agility are required to focus on results, change management, collaboration, problem solving, talent and engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience leading employee training programs.
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations, etc.).
  • Proven ability to develop processes from scratch and fully implement.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong presentation and speaking skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills across multiple functional departments.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, internet software, e-mail.
  • Ability to flex work hours in order to provide training within a 24/7 operation.
  • Ability to thrive an ambiguous environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of human relations skills, principles and team building processes.
  • Ability to translate floor processes into documented training materials.
Physical Requirements:

Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10-35 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time.
