Job Description
6 month Fixed Term Contract

Position Summary:

The accounting assistant will be responsible for processing applying customer payment to the appropriate customer accounts and invoices. Cash application processing involves working with the collections team to investigate and clarify customer payments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply cash payments to customer accounts to clear outstanding invoices
  • Prepare daily cash reports from online bank data and reports for collectors
  • Process customer payments from lockbox, direct deposit, credit cards
  • Organize cheque payments from customer for bank deposit
  • Administer new customer accounts
  • Work with collectors to investigate payment differences
  • Attend meetings with collectors and provide input on cash payments
  • Set up and maintain new vendors accounts
  • Assist with requests for insurance documentation
  • Other ad hoc duties to assist accounting team, including filing and key entry

Minimum Requirements:
  • College diploma or university degree, preferably in Accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience, excellent organizational & PC skills
  • Previous work experience in finance area considered an asset
  • Intermediate level MS- Excel skills, strong overall PC skills
  • Strong keybording skills
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
