Job Description

Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Planner Scheduler I within the Pleasanton, CA Open Array team is designed to support the manufacturing operations for all Make to Order and Make to Stock Open Array products. This includes proactive monitoring of the team group email box for open orders, placing orders for assays for workbook orders, using Excel to track relevant OA metrics and order statuses, and fielding queries for order status from Product Management, Sales, and Customer-facing teams globally.

Position Objective:
Will work closely with Product Management, Manufacturing, Planning, Distribution, and OSC team members utilizing multiple order management tools for the Open Array product line. The position will support efforts to maintain a positive and predictable customer experience from the point of order entry to the delivery of product

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Taqman Open Array Group Email box. Ability to answer emails on a timely basis, relaying/forwarding emails to appropriate cross functional parties to address.
  • Communicate with Product Management team, internal Manufacturing team, and the Planner regarding orders: new, in process, past, etc.
  • Communicate with Sales Representatives and Customer Service Representatives for addressing new orders to process
  • Use Excel and Office 365 to track order status for custom orders.
  • Use Excel to track metrics such as schedule adherence and group metrics like OEE, yield, run rates, etc.
  • Order assays for custom orders on the Thermofisher.com portal.
  • Contact Quant Studio Front Desk personnel for assay replacements if needed.
  • Contact other members within the site or company for updates on assay orders when needed.
  • Troubleshoot problems from the user side for the internal database used to process orders. If there are problems, initiate IT tickets to the appropriate manufacturing support IT team.
  • Help troubleshoot Excel items as needed
  • Open PR’s as required
  • Lead the 2x/week Open Array Cross Functional Daily Huddle Call
  • Working knowledge of SAP for checking and making changes to internally placed assay orders, checking for delivery numbers when asked by Sales/Customer Service representatives.
  • Some E1 based knowledge for basic transactions to check SAP/E1 order number relationships
  • Some laboratory experience is helpful – may be trained in lab procedures to serve as a back-up for re-arraying and preamp pool manufacturing.
  • Adhere to established guidelines for maximizing Product Line Profitability and Site Productivity savings by exploring opportunities to re-use existing assay racks from previous customer orders to avoid assay re-ordering


  • Detail Oriented and Organized – expect multiple orders and inquiries on any given day.
  • Assertiveness / Willingness to speak up when issues arise or there are questions about orders.
  • Good computer skills
  • Excel knowledge – Excel troubleshooting skills, creation of graphs, etc.
  • Good email etiquette, including spelling and punctuation.
  • Strong multitasking skills. Open Array is a fast moving environment where exceptions are common. Ability to switch between tasks frequently and effectively
  • Ability to work closely with the entire Open Array team, but also able to work independently and often times without instruction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year experience
