The Technical Sales Specialist (Microarray) is part of the commercial organization supporting the Genetic Sciences Division (GSD) portfolio which provides high-value genomic data to assist critical decisions in research and applied markets - Quantitative PCR | Sanger Sequencing | Human Identification | AgriGenomics.

How will you make an impact?
You will achieve your success by being responsible for the direct sale of the company’s products and/or services within the Southern California area. You will be expected to manage your business, be successful by challenging your customers and creating useful insights they can use to drive their research or product development forward. Additionally you will work closely with a team of Genetic Analysis sales representatives and Field Applications Scientists to effectively drive business throughout your accounts.

What will you do?
  • Generates and qualifies sales leads building and managing a strong pipeline to fruition
  • Generates forecast reports
  • Build and manage accounts in assigned territory
  • Support and coordinate efforts with the Genetic Analysis Sales Representatives and Field Applications Scientist
  • Increases customer awareness of Applied Biosystems and is an advocate for its platforms and applications across the Gene Expression portfolio (qPCR, Open Array, Microarray, NGS)
  • Creates strong and impactful relationships with customers resulting in sales and support
  • Devises and implements account and territory strategies
  • Identifies and communicates product improvements and new product opportunities
  • Identifies and mitigates competitive barriers
  • Provide market intelligence back into the organization
  • May provide after sales technical support and customer service
  • Coordinates and/or Conducts both technical and promotional seminars
  • Initiates and coordinates action plans to penetrate new markets
  • Participates in process and operation improvement opportunities
  • Responds to internal and external inquiries
  • Complies with company quality management systems, policies and procedures
  • Provides mentorship, if applicable
  • Additional duties/responsibilities according to business needs

How will you get there?
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required, in a life science field preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of sales experience
  • Competencies: (proven sales skills, technical knowledge related to genomics and genetics)
  • Interpersonal skills: works well in a team environment, strong communication skills, able to build trust
  • Results oriented: proven sales success, consistent performance record
  • Territory Location: Southern CA Territory includes :Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, Riverside County
  • Knowledge of territory is preferred
  • Travel 25%

Demonstrates good judgment in applying appropriate action resolve issues of diverse scope requiring analysis and evaluation of factors
Contributes to establishment of organization's objectives; error in judgment or failure to achieve objectives will have crucial impact and will require extensive addition of resources to correct errors and achieve goals
