The Thermo Fisher Global Chemicals GTC team requires an Compliance Specialist II analyst position with a focused skill set and competencies to handle various import compliance duties. Due to the complexity and risk involved with the importation of chemicals in conjunction with the added line of Animal Origin products to the site's portfolio, an individual with comprehensive knowledge of import regulations and operational experience is needed to reduce risk and increase efficiencies. In addition, the Compliance Specialist II will be pro-active in its approach in the management of risks and ensure trade issues are handled compliantly by personnel experienced in import/export regulatory requirements.
Manage daily relationships with brokers and carriers to resolve problems at all points in transit. Performs pre-clearance review of all import documentation when applicable and works with internal (Purchasing, Quality Control, Logistics, sister locations) and external stakeholders (Custom Brokers and Suppliers) to ensure compliance with US Customs clearance requirements.
Serves as an ACE administrator with the responsibility to investigate, correct and track all compliance errors reported within ACE for imports.
Serve as a primary contact for internal customers and third-party logistics as it relates to the company’s U.S. import compliance activities.
GTC liaison with EHS/QC team to obtain and disseminate applicable PGA required documents for Customs clearance.
Conducts periodic clearance document reviews and implements any necessary corrective actions. Creates and maintains tracking visibility for international shipments.
Responsible for Freight Forwarder Compliance including conducting audits of export packets to ensure applicable Letters of Assurance (LOA), Electronic Export Information (EEI), and Air Waybills (AWBs) are in compliance with Thermo Fisher Global Chemical policy and U.S. Government regulations.
Cross-Trained to back up GTC Program Manager and Program Analyst. Assist the Global Trade Compliance Program Manager in providing training and strategic, risk-based direction to internal customers as it relates to import compliance matters.
Act as back-up and assist GTC Program Analyst with activities related to U.S. import Harmonized Tariff Classification and PGA requirements for chemical imports into the U.S.
Assist with SOP/Policy creation for various trade compliance activities.
Knowledge of, but not limited to, USDA, EU and other foreign regulatory requirements regarding the importation of Animal Origin products for research purposes.
