Job Description

The Environment Health & Safety Manager manages activities for Patheon Softgels B.V. organization related to environmental, health, and safety and Safety related CAPA in order to have a safe and compliant production and development operation.

  • Identification of responsibilities and the development and effective implementation of policies, controls, procedures and systems, taking account, where appropriate, of Corporate policy and guidelines.
  • To establish and maintain an effective EH&S training program at all levels of the business, including contract, agency and temporary personnel.
  • To ensure compliance with existing and upcoming Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation.
  • To liaise with the Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency and other regulatory authorities on all EH&S matters.
  • To provide support in respect of any civil and criminal proceedings against the company of an EH&S nature.
  • To manage EH&S and associated activities (including Employee Safety Representatives, Occupational Health, Security, First Aid and Fire Teams) within the established budget.
  • To manage the Environmental Waste Management function.
  • To participate in site projects, to ensure EH&S policies are considered at all stages of the project.
  • To advise and support major project work, including construction of new facilities to ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and Corporate standards.
  • To work with management and employees to promote and support a positive and proactive environment, health & safety culture within the organisation.
  • To manage the site Security Services.
  • Comply with GMP requirements and company rules, policies and procedures.
  • Understand emergency procedures and comply with safe systems of work.
  • Ensure compliance with environment, health and safety rules, signage and instructions at all times.
  • Ensure reporting and investigation of all accidents, near misses and breaches of rules.

Qualifications

  • An in depth knowledge of the EH&S within a pharmaceutical environment.
  • An in depth knowledge of current and emerging EH&S legislation and best practice.
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing EH&S improvements in a large and complex organization. Experience of working in a multi discipline and site environment.
  • Proven ability to lead a team of qualified EH&S Practitioners and other professionals.
  • Proven track record in interpretation of legislative and corporate standards to deliver robust pragmatic EHS solutions that meet the requirements of Commercial and Pharmaceutical Development Services.
  • Knowledge and experience of construction and process chemistry for new facilities.
  • A proven ability to gain credibility with, persuade and influence senior and operational managers and other key stakeholders. A proven ability to engage staff to enhance EH&S performance.
