Job Description
Position Summary:

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for direct sales as well as managing a network of independent sales organizations (ISOs) and representatives to meet the territory goals and objectives. In this role, you must assume complete responsibility for all aspects of the sales channel including developing and managing the ISO’s, training and motivating reps and interfacing with the management of the company. You must be an experienced sales professional, lead by example and be able to consistently deliver results.

TERRITORY: Tyrrhenian Region, starting from Tuscany

Key Responsibilities:
  • Achieve forecasted sales goals for territory while preserving acceptable price levels and avoiding undue risk.
  • Provide support and assistance to Reps., customers, OEM’s and engineering firms that enhance our long-term business results and relationships.
  • Meet customer requirements (responsive, cost awareness, schedule conscious). Maintain and continue to develop a superior knowledge of our products and their applications. Select, train and motivate Independent Sales Organizations (ISO) to optimize achievement of our sales goals via their efforts.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with Key Account clients within the territory including contract negotiation.
  • Manage time, activity and expenses to optimize productivity and minimize cost of doing business. Coordinate sales activity with that in other territories, home office and company marketing efforts and objectives.
  • Provide forecasts, weekly reports, marketing intelligence and information to supervisor and other company personnel as required. Utilize our contact management system (currently SalesForce) daily by updating and adding notes, customer information, etc.
  • Drive performance of team to exceed sales goals and objectives.
  • Provide sales coaching, training and reporting.
  • Coordinate and execute sales campaigns.
  • Assist with the creation of sales/marketing materials.
  • Sell Point of Sale services.
  • Available to travel overnight for company business


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • 10 years outside sales/management experience.
  • 5 years packaging industry experience.
  • 5 packaging machinery experience.
  • BS/BA Degree (Engineering Preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated work ethic that is goal driven and results oriented.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and proven ability to close sales.
  • Persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated self starter dedicated to achieving goals and performance metrics.
  • PC literacy including MS Office, Outlook, and SalesForce or other sales contact management systems.
  • Ability to learn and understand products and services.
Desirable:
  • 5+ years inspection equipment experience

Position Specific Criteria:
  • Experience building and managing an independent sales channel
  • Experience developing and managing Key Account partnerships
  • Ability to use sales tools and systems effectively to set forecasts and meet sales objectives.
  • Previous business-to-business telephone sales experience.
