The role:

We are looking for a Part Qualified Accountant to join our team based in Paisley initially on a 6 month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an expanding Centre Of Excellence in an organisation considered a global leader in its field.

The centre provides financial controllership in the region for two of the Thermo Fisher Scientific groups – Life Sciences Solutions and Special Diagnostics. We are responsible for a large number of entities reporting a total of $2 Billion of revenue per year. This role will be responsible for our LSG business for Finland and France when required.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of monthly close activities
  • Preparing accounting entries
  • Evaluating entries for completeness and accuracy
  • Reviewing general ledger activity, researching and correcting account discrepancies
  • Performing balance sheet account reconciliations – researching and resolving any reconciling items on a monthly basis
  • Preparing and submitting of government and other agency returns, including but not limited to VAT returns and government statistics returns
  • Researching and resolve any reconciling items on a monthly basis
  • Supporting the preparation of Statutory Accounts under FRS102
  • Ensuring compliance with Corporate Accounting policies, procedures and controls (Sarbanes-Oxley Act)

Who we are looking for:

  • Experience of month end reporting, statutory accounts, management accounting, balance sheet reconciliations & VAT returns
  • Previous experience in a large scale organisation would be beneficial
  • Highly motivated and detail oriented individual with excellent communication, computer and organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise and follow through in a fast-paced, multitask environment
  • Excellent attention to detail as accuracy is required in performing all aspects of the role
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Ability to work well under time constraints
  • Working knowledge of ERPs (E1 or SAP) (Desired but not essential)
