Analytical Instruments Group - Materials & Structural Analysis Division
Our Thermo Scientific brand in the analytical instruments group offers customers in research, academic, industrial and applied markets a complete range of high-end analytical instruments as well as laboratory equipment, software and services. In the materials and structural analysis division we design, manu­facture, and support the broadest range of high-performance microscopy workflows that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales. Combining hardware and software expertise in electron, ion, FTIR, NIR, NMR UV/VIS and light microscopy with deep application knowledge in the materials science, life sci­ences, electronics, and natural resources markets. Our laboratory elemental analyzers use x-ray fluoresce (XRD), x-ray diffraction (XRD), and arc spark optical emission (EOS) techniques for precise analysis of bulk materials in the metals, cement, minerals and petrochemicals industries. Our material characterization instruments include rheometers and extruders that measure viscosity, elasticity, process ability and temperature related material changes of various materials. We also provide a range of elemental analysis instruments used in product development. The position
As internal Communication Specialist you are part of the MSD Service organization and report into the Technical Training and Documentation department. Outside of that this rle is working for our operations department as well.

The Services organizations around the globe aligned their strategies into one Service strategy and Governance model. The Communication Specialist is accountable for execution of the internal communication strategy and plan that support the Service strategy including revenue, profit, customer and employee satisfaction goals. Main focus will be on developing and coordinating messages across various businesses through a variety of channels that include presentations, intranet, email, newsletters, videos, seminars, and internal social media. Understanding of employee communications, gathering news and translating company information into clear language is key.

We are looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal relationship skills and the ability to work independently in virtual teams and across a complex organization.

Main responsibilities:
  • Execute the internal communication strategy and plan for Service to expand awareness, understanding and acceptance of the Service strategy worldwide
  • Engage with key stakeholders to gather news stories and feedback
  • Maintain a communication calendar through various channels including content development
  • Coordinate and maintain communication channels such as intranet, SharePoint, Yammer, webinars, newsletters, all hands meetings etc
  • Support communication delivery for certain projects
  • Support the positioning and visibility of Service within the Division
  • Ensure communication effectiveness with regular monitoring and timely reporting based on quantitative and qualitative data
  • Support Global Operations in their need for communication towards a global audience
  • Main challenges:
  • Tailor communication towards audiences of various cultures
  • Translating high level complex messages in to messaging for various audiences
  • Understand and manage the political landscape

Qualifications and personal skills

  • Working on BS/Academic level, degree in Communications, Organizational Development, Behavioral Psychology or Business
  • 2-5 years’ experience in internal communications and/or marketing communications in an international working environment.
  • Sincere personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A team player, able to provide both conceptual thinking and hands-on assistance
  • Able to build and leverage relationships across boundaries, levels and geographies
  • Advisor to the management team, or possibility to develop into such a role
  • Able to scan and manage the political landscape
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast paced and challenging global business environment.
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Highly proficient with translating high level complex messages in to messaging for various audiences
  • Able to maintain discretion and manage confidential information
  • A true interest in how people and organizations work
  • An energetic, positive and pragmatic attitude
