Program Manager – Global Infrastructure Services

Position Summary:
The Program Manager – Global Infrastructure Services is accountable for the successful implementation of a portfolio of global projects that support the overall Thermo Fisher enterprise. This position will indirectly lead Project Managers who manage projects supporting a common goal. This role is also accountable for developing operational strategy, project intake, and executive reporting on project metrics/trends, organizational change management developing repeatable processes for the program and ensuring projects are delivered to standard. This position will report into the Director, Global Infrastructure Services PMO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages and oversees the day-to-day operational activities of global Fly the Planes program
  • Ensures program achieves overall program goals
  • Creates and executes organizational change management strategy to support program objectives serving as global champion for the overall change initiative
  • Develops, measures and tracks metrics to measure program effectiveness
  • Updates Executive Steering team on program progress
  • Oversees program portfolio, ensuring project interdependencies are understood and accounted for.
  • Ensure projects are staffed to support program timelines and escalate issues to steering committee to remediate conflicts
  • Ensure all projects are managed within corporate Project Management repository (HP PPM) from Project Initiation to Implementation ensuring that data is always accurate and updated weekly
  • Facilitates communication between program stakeholders to ensure alignment on program execution
  • Evaluates projects for inclusion in program and determines how it supports program strategy
  • Manage project(s) within the overall program as necessary
  • Actively engage in projects that are off-track (yellow or red) to assist in creating remediation plans to get back to green
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Information Systems, Project Management or related field
  • Related experience in project and program management within enterprise IT organization(s)
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience acceptable
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management frameworks such as PMBOK
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with multiple PM tools
  • Experience executing organizational change management strategy to drive change effectively
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Must be able to work independently and handle multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and project management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Ability to communicate and manage in a matrix organization with multiple business partners and IT colleagues on a remote basis
  • Able to understand and complete tasks independently
  • Ability to problem solve and work well in complex, ambiguous situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Proven ability to navigate the technology environment and work effectively with multiple groups

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:
  • Ability and proven track record of leading complex programs in a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading organizational change
  • The ability to engage and motivate a diverse group of stakeholders: executives, managers, subject matter experts and individual contributors
