Job Description

Position Summary:

The role of the Senior Manager, Product Management is to provide vision and leadership for developing and harmonizing software product roadmaps and specifications that align with the long term goals of the company to support its Digital Science strategy. This person has to be in tune with our customers and the scientific workflows we support, must have a track record of innovation, and be able to direct the planning and implementation of software solutions in order to improve efficiencies (cost effectiveness), quality and timeliness of delivery. This person should be a team builder, be able to effectively collaborate across business unit boundaries, and experienced in leading global teams who want to join us as we build on our market leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to direct reports within the product management team
  • Own Product portfolio roadmap and release planning for assigned products
  • Manage a group of products that meet market needs. Assess the viability of the portfolio and how to harmonize the portfolio to align with the long term corporate strategy and distinctive competence
  • Manage the portfolio like a single platform (business case, positioning, sales process, market requirements, marketing plan, and harmonization plan).
  • Drive portfolio strategy with focus on synergies and increasing customer value of the Digital Science software products
  • Serve as a point of contact for the assigned product portfolio for sales & marketing, distribution channel, customers, business partners press, media and industry analysts
  • Understand market/customer dynamics to lead portfolio harmonization and feature prioritization
  • Owner of competitive benchmarking for assigned products
  • Escalation point for priority conflicts

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of practical experience in relevant positions in sales, marketing, business development or product management.
  • College Degree (masters or higher preferred) in relevant computer or technical sciences
  • Experience building, leading, and inspiring teams towards unified business goals
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in software product management/product marketing or software Sales/Support/Service
  • Proven leadership in a global matrixed organization
  • Fluency in English language
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written presentation skills included
  • Relevant experience with at least parts of the Digital Science product portfolio
  • Willingness to travel about 30%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Practical experience in either operation or implementation of SampleManager, Watson and Nautilus
  • Pivotal

  • JIRA Bug-Tracking
  • JIRA Feature Request Workflow
