Job Description

The position will report into the Electron Microscopy division which is located at Fremont, CA.

The applications position is ultimately responsible for making our customers successful in solving yield and device related electrical failures through the use of advanced failure analysis and failure isolation techniques enabled by Thermo Fisher Scientific’s leading edge technology and instrumentation.

What will you do?
  • Applications Development – Develop and implement new application use cases, methodology, and workflows to address customer needs in every aspect related to failure analysis and failure isolation and instrumentation usage.
  • Product Development – Lead product development teams in conceptualizing and developing high value new capabilities and system improvements through deep understanding of customer requirements and clear and precise communication and documentation of customer requirements.
  • Applications Expertise – Lead customer demos, system characterization, modeling or simulation projects, hands-on system training, and usage of instrumentation for customer failure analysis and failure isolation cases.
  • Factory & Service Support – Collaborate with product development and manufacturing to conduct Factory and Special ATP prior to shipment. Assist the service team in system installation and be responsible for system sign-off.
  • Presales Support – Support sales activity by being the technical partner and application specialist. Collaborate with sales to manage system demo and evaluation. Provide evaluation report to sales and marketing teams.
  • Marketing Intelligence – Research and collect competitive technical information, to report on future technologies, trends and their potential impact to status quo.
  • Publications and Seminars – Publish application notes and technical papers. Present material at technical conferences.



Required
  • PhD or MS in Physics, Material Science, Chemical, Optical, or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in Failure Analysis / Failure Isolation, Quality & Reliability, or Semiconductor Capital Equipment
  • Travel up to 50%-opportunity to travel the world! i.e. broad customer base


Preferred
  • Capital Equipment experience
  • Optical, thermographic or inspection and metrology instrumentation
  • Process design experience
  • MatLab or other engineering modeling, simulation applications (ANSYS)
  • Expert Power Point and Excel user
