The Sr Director, Information Technology for the Life Science Solutions Group Commercial organization is responsible for partnering with leaders to execute the Commercial IT strategy, automate / drive efficiencies, provide IT Program/Project management and ensure implementation and maintenance of infrastructure and application systems for both the Commercial and Finance organizations. In addition, the Sr. Director, IT will interface with their key IT partners in corporate shared services to assure ongoing functional support. The candidate will be a key member of the IT and Commercial leadership teams. In addition, this role is responsible for representing the LSG Commercial and Finance IT function for acquisition and integration activities as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • In conjunction with Business and IT leadership, establish the long-term IT strategy for the Life Sciences Solutions Group Commercial Operations and Finance organizations
  • Provide high-level technology roadmap alignment; acting as a champion for cross-business group projects.
  • Establish and communicate annual plans, objectives and budgets and monitor their accomplishment.
  • Oversee and advise on the evaluation of near and longer term needs of the Commercial Operations organization as well as Finance, and establish priorities and identify resources for the team.
  • Establish and manage IT programs that enable the key business needs as agreed to with Business and IT leadership.
  • Represents the IT function and leads activities for acquisition and integration efforts
  • Direct staff in developing work plans for feasibility studies and systems development and implementation.
  • Review and approve proposed budgets and timelines. Select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Advise subordinate managers and others in order to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget according to the agreed upon scope.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Finance and Commercial Operations functions with other IT areas so that service integration is ensured.
  • Select, oversee and manage consultants, contractors and vendors and related contracts as appropriate in accordance with internal policies.
  • Continually assess departmental policies, functional requirements, techniques and controls. Implement process improvements as needed.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree with experience in a functional discipline of integrations, operations management, customer service, supply chain or finance
  • 10-15 years as a strategic partner for IT
  • Minimum of 8 years leadership experience with a strong track record of successful project implementations
  • Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of delivering sustainable business results
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with and gain trust of senior leadership
  • Ability to quickly understand the business need and to translate this to actionable IT solutions
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization
  • Experience working with a business leveraging IT shared services
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding capacity to make decisions or recommendations based on potentially incomplete information
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills. Ability to speak effectively and articulate company value proposition with executive level contacts
  • Strong project management skills and understanding of project management lifecycle
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both a business context and an IT context
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Travel 25-50%
Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:
  • Broad operational experience in a large company environment with a deep understanding of IT
  • 10-15 years’ experience leading global IT teams and large projects
